[ NEW - UPDATED! ] Master Plan Appendix - Project Memorandum: Download - Areas of additional research completed during the master planning process. In some cases, these documents summarize an area of research or an expert's input to the design process. In others, they answer a single question. (Additional reports and material listed on the Appendix Table of Contents, such as the final Ecological Assessment and Report, are below.)
RECENT UPDATES
[ NEW! ] Summary of Public Event #4 / May 12 Open House: Download - A summary of the May 12 Open House, which was held under a tent on the EWEB Operations Yard, in an area normally closed to the public. This final public event included site tours to orient community members to the proposed design, acknowledgement of the Community Advisory Team's commitment, opportunities to provide feedback and input, and a dozen presentation boards that addressed various aspects of the design in greater detail. (See Presentation Posters below.)

Presentation Posters from May 12 Open House: Download - A PDF of the new posters created for the May 12 Open House, to explain various aspects of the master plan in greater detail. These large posters have been compressed to create a web-friendly file, though image quality has been reduced as a result. File size: 7MB.
Ecological Analysis and Design: Download - This 70-page report (5MB) includes an executive summary and key recommendations to enhance the ecological and human experiential values of the master plan. The report is written from a landscape ecology perspective and includes a summary assessment of the master plan in terms of five qualities related to the ecological value of a landscape: ecosystem function, habitat size, habitat quality, habitat connectivity, and management of ecological dynamism. Also included are recommended plant communities, innovative precedents, an overview of site history, context and floodplain complexity, and design and management strategies for the site. Written by Bart Johnson, Aryana Ferguson and Justin Simms with contributions from Bruce Newhouse and Rowell Brokaw Architects.

Master Plan Guiding Principles, September 9, 2009: Download - The Guiding Principles outline a set of shared values that the Community Advisory Team (CAT) will use to guide the development of the Riverfront Master Plan. This is a draft, working document. The principles, listed in no priority order, will continue to be refined with additional community input. Summary of AIA Design Charrette: Download - A summary of the design proposals and recommendations from the all-day design workshop attended by 80 members of the professional design community and public at large on Saturday, October 3, 2009. Participants worked in 8 teams, using the project's Guiding Principles and a to-scale "kit of parts" to develop proposals. This charrette was made possible with the support of the local chapters of the AIA and ASLA.

Cultural Landscape - Eugene's African-American History: Download - This document provides a clear overview of Eugene's African-American history and what was lost with the demolition of the Ferry Street Community in 1949. It was written by Chrisanne Beckner to complete a M.S. in Historic Preservation in 2009, and summarizes one of the layers of history that could be included in the master plan's proposed Cultural Landscape.
LEED for New Construction - Checklist: Download - This checklist is used to determine compliance with the U.S. Green Building Council's standards for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for New Construction. LEED certification requires 40 of a possible 110 points. (LEED Silver, Gold or Platinum certification requires a minimum of 50, 60 and 80 points, respectively.)
